Five Carhartt's brand overall buttons, including one stud. Two heart shaped buttons with wobble type shanks, each with the name "CARHARTT'S" in script across the top, and a detailed train car in the middle . The backs say pat-2-26-1918. One back is cruddy. Two round buttons with wobble shanks, one has a heart and a train car in the middle, and the words "CARHARTT'S O'ALLS & GLOVES" around the edge. The other round one is a Rebus, and says "THE" and then there is a picture of a train car and a heart and the word "BRAND" below. The last button has a stud back (see scan) and the image of a train car over a heart in the middle, and the name "CARHARTT'S" above and "UNION MADE" below. All are in used condition.

Antique Pearl & Shell Buttons   All the buttons in this auction and the upcoming auctions were found at the local estate sale of a button collector. From yellowed newspaper articles found with the buttons, most of the collecting appears to have been done around 1946 - 1947 and most likely prior to that. Some of the buttons were arranged on cards, some lying in cotton lined cardboard boxes that are falling apart and others were stored in numerous old candy boxes. This auction contains over 200 pearl and shell buttons, most of which are on seven partial or full cards I have left all the buttons on the cards as found and the loose buttons were gathered up from the bottom of the storage boxes - I assume some of these fell off the cards at some time in their history.  The buttons range in size from 0.3" to 1.5". The following photos show all the buttons included in the auction, with a US quarter nearby to gauge the sizes. We are pleased to offer this very fine SET OF ANTIQUE "BIRD" CARVED MOTHER OF PEARL BUTTONS............MOP. This is the best set of buttons from this lot of MOP buttons. There are are nine larger buttons...........26mm............and three small buttons........17mm. As you can see in the photos...........these buttons are pierced through, with highly detailed bird carving on each. Just a wonderful set, from a early Estate here in Penna.
