whimrose Store RARE ANTIQUE "I.R.A" IRA FENIANS BRASS MILITARY UNIFORM BUTTON "EXTRA QUALITY" This is a very rare Civil War button worn on the uniform of a Fenian, the military arm of the Fenian Brotherhood an Irish Republican organization founded in the US in 1858 which later became the Irish Republican Army. The back of the button is stamped EXTRA QUALITY. I have had this button for many years as part of a Victorian Charm Strand which held a collection of 180 buttons most of which were late 19th century. The strand was found in a second hand store in an old button box and was still strung together with the original string.
